About our House

We have been hosting our friends and family here for twenty years. Now you can stay here too! You will enjoy sitting in front of the fireplace or on the deck with a glass of wine after a nice dinner. The house has two bedrooms, each with a full bathroom. The dining room seats six comfortably. One bedroom has a queen bed, and the other has twin beds. A sleeper sofa in the living room enables sleeping accommodations for up to six people. The full kitchen has natural cabinets, a gas stove, and granite counter tops.

Folks used to take the train to Hendersonville and then ride the "dummy" to Rainbow Lake. From there they rode the "Swiss Cog Railway" up our mountain for the expansive view looking down on Hendersonville and out to Bearwallow Mountain. Some of them built houses here and started the small resort town of Laurel Park. You can stay here too and enjoy the same view as you take a walk on the quiet (almost level) loop where the house is located. You can also go to the top of the mountain for a spectacular view from Jump Off Rock and perhaps stop along the way to eat at Poplar Lodge.

For nearby shopping and dining, downtown Hendersonville is less than five minutes away. The Sandburg House and Flat Rock Playhouse are in Flat Rock, just ten minutes away. You are forty minutes away from Asheville, where you can visit the Biltmore House, eat in world-class restaurants, and shop in art galleries. For sightseeing there’s the duPont State Forest with High Falls, Triple Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Hooker Falls. The Blue Ridge Parkway is easily accessible. You can plan a great day trip to include trout with your breakfast eggs at Pisgah Inn on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
